Joaquim Januário is a product designer whose practice is grounded in a thoughtful consideration of the social systems and traditions behind design.

His approach is shaped by the contrast between his roots, growing up immersed in the raw, resource-rich natural heritage, where traditional knowledge persists, and the complexities of urban life.

He seeks to explore how this dialogue between rural tradition and the contemporary world can inform his methodology.

Wine Decanter

In this project a wine decanter was designed. Separating the sediments and aerating the wine were fundamental requirements for this project. The design of this decanter also allows measuring the amount of wine that is poured. In this way, it will be easier to control the process of oxygenation of the drink. The design also contemplates the peculiar way of holding the decanter to serve the wine. This decanter was produced in blown glass.
